The great thing about these two chords (aside from the instant epicness when they're combined) is that they also share 2 of the same chord tones from the scale - the root and 3rd of the i chord (C# and E in this case) are the 3rd and 5th of the VI chord.

What that means for you, is that you can play C# OR E over both chords and keep returning to those notes within your C# minor scale to finish your melodies and they'll sound perfect!
